The Hopefuls on The O.C.!
Aside from cuter actors, better fashion sense, and richer parents, there's something Fox's smash hit series The OC has that no other prime time show can boast:  The Hopefuls!  No, they're not appearing in concert at dreamy Seth Cohen's bar mitzvah, but you'll be able to hear the single "Let's Go" from their debut release, The Fuses Refuse to Burn, on the Dec. 23rd airing of the wildly successful nighttime Cali-drama. Tune in to see what kind of trust fund mayhem our very own Midwestern golden boys will provide the backdrop for: Ryan and Marissa decking the halls with boughs of holly?  Ma and Pa Cohen cutting a rug at another holiday swingers' party?  Drunken house guests inviting themselves to a skinny dip in the neighbors' infinity pool?  There's only one way to find out! Set your VCRs to Fox TV on Thursday, Dec. 23, at 7 p.m. CST, and turn up the volume to ROCK. 10/28/04

We're on VH1 tonight!
Listen for OH on the show "Best Week Ever" on VH1 tonight--our song "Imaginary" will be featured. Well, for 10 seconds anyway...

The Hopefuls featured in City Pages
Sunday night The Hopefuls were photographed by Darin Back for this weeks music feature in the City Pages. The pictures were taken at our training facility on the campus of Macalaster College. We did some 20 foot sprints as well as some long jumping. Much to our surprise, John's long jumping form is perfectly exquisite. The feature comes out today in the City Pages which works out nicely considering we have a show at the Uptown Bar on Friday with Vox Vermillion and Bill Mike. Music will start at 9 and The Hopefuls should take the stage around 11 or so.
In other news, the album "The Fuses Refuse To Burn" got a handsome write-up by the nice people at Mean Street and you can check it out in the press section.
Lastly but not leastly, there has been some buzz about The Hopefuls making a fancy pants rock video the details of which I must remain somewhat secretive about but we will reveal more when the time is right. See you all on Friday. -OH 7/21/04

The Hopefuls Press Onward!
The Hopefuls are the featured band on the indie music site run by Jones Soda this week, and scored a great review from California's Meanstreet Magazine. 7/09/04

OH @ OH!
Thanks to everyone for coming out to see us @ Station 4 last friday in St. Paul.  We had an excellent time.  Local music critic, Chris Riemenschneider was at the show and today he wrote that"...the pop-savvy The Hopefuls have become a better band on stage even than on their well-received debut CD. The quartet is threatening to overshadow the other acts of frontmen Darren Jackson and Erik Applewick. Their next gig is a big one, too: outside Peavey Plaza on July 9 for the Day of Music festival at Orchestra Hall, in the same slot played in previous years by Iffy and the Honeydogs."  So pack up the kids and head on down to Orchestra Hall for the rock n roll magic show! 7/02/04

OH are #67 on the CMJ charts this week!
Hello June!  Well I believe The Fuses Refuse to Burn has been on the CMJ charts for six weeks now.  Thanks to everyone who has helped us reach #38 and sustain such a good run.  Now go out and play some frisbee! 6/02/04

Who's updating this site anyway?
So for the past two weeks, The Fuses Refuse to Burn has been @ #45 on ye ol' CMJ charts.  Nice to know that people are still listening and stations are still playing.  A special thanks to those @ Radio K where the record is #2!  Please call and request "Imaginary" and "Drain the Sea."  5/26/04

OH's STAR is on the rise!

The Hopefuls now #44 in CMJ Top 200!
Now we're cooking with jet fuel...OH moved up 24 spots on CMJ Top 200 this week! For the mathematically challenged, that's from #68 to #44. Let's rock that top 20, people. Call your local college radio station! 4/27/04

The Hopefuls debut at #68 in CMJ Top 200!
And they're off! The OH record is spreading like an infectious rock and roll fever throughout North America. #68! Incredible! Thanks to everyone who has helped us get this far so fast. Only 67 spots to go--call those stations on the radio! 4/20/04

OH Begin Their Assault On the Airwaves!!!!
OH's, The Fuses Refuse to Burn, was the #4 "Add" @ college radio this week! What does this mean? Well, when a station gives a record  an "Add" it means that the record was one of the 5 best that the station received that week and that it has been added to their playlist. If enough stations add you to their playlist then you will chart on CMJ's Top 200 Adds.  To put it into perspective, only Modest Mouse, My Morning Jacket, and Bright Eyes received more "Adds" this week then OH and OH charted higher than the likes of Morrisey, Shannon Wright, and Tortoise!  Stay tuned for further college radio developments. 4/13/04

CD release show a smashing success
Thanks to everyone who rocked with us on Saturday! We quenched ourselves from trophy cups as the screaming and whooping got louder after each song. The high-tech fabrics of our jumpsuits were our saving grace as we put forth...oh, never mind, the photos tell the story. Video coming soon! 4/11/04

OH are Pioneering!
OH are featured in the Hear Now section of the Pioneer Press. Molly Priesmeyer writes that "The Fuses Refuse to Burn is a glorious, hook-filled, drunk-on-pleasure pop confection" and that the Hopefuls are "sure to compete for the title of Minnesota's best new band of 2004 and come away with the blue ribbon." 4/09/04

It feels good to be A-Listed
Our CD release show this Saturday is a City Pages "A-List" event! Bridgette Reinsmoen says The Fuses Refuse to Burn is "...bright indie pop (that) showcases the same peppy energy that's in the band's publicity photo" and "...its bouncy charm is irresistible." 4/07/04

OH featured in PULSE
Check out Rob van Alstyne's article "Going for Gold" in this week's PULSE of the Twin Cities! He calls The Fuses Refuse to Burn "...the best indie-pop album of the year so far." 4/07/04
